Graduating from Tulane University in May 2014, Anna began her career as the Communications and Outreach Fellow for New Orleans City Councilmember LaToya Cantrell of District B in March 2014. Anna was subsequently promoted to a full-time staff position as the Communications Director in November 2014. In her role, Anna has developed her capacities of planning and implementing short-term and long-term communications and outreach strategies, managing media initiatives, programming community meetings and events, and coordinating and overseeing volunteer efforts. Anna’s proudest campaigns have been New Orleans HIV/AIDS Awareness Week and the Smoke-Free New Orleans, which has improved public health for all residents, especially for musicians and employees who work in bars and casinos.
In March 2016, Anna was elected to the Orleans Parish Democratic Executive Committee (OPDEC) as one of the 14 representatives for District ‘A’. Through her four-year term, Anna will serve as OPDEC’s youngest current member and only Asian-American representative. She hopes to increase voter turnout and civic engagement throughout the city, especially among millennials and communities of color.
Anna is an alumna of 2015-2016 Institute of Politics Fellowship Program; the New Leaders’ Council, Louisiana chapter class of 2016; and 2016 Emerging Philanthropists of New Orleans class. She currently serves as the Outreach Co-Chair for New Leaders’ Council Louisiana and sits on the 501c4 Women’s Caucus. Anna is a board member and chief financial officer for the New Orleans Dodgeball Association, as well as a board member for the American Nonsmokers’ Rights (ANR/ANRF). She is also a member of the Young Leadership Council and of the Advocacy Committee and the Programming Committee for the New Orleans’ chapter of Independent Women’s Organization.
